Winged eyeliner has been my signature look since a long time ago, but I mean who doesn’t love that perfect “cat eye” look. That mixture of cute, sexy and chic everybody needs on an everyday look. From Audrey Hepburn to Brigitte Bardot the 60’s were all about this chic eyeliner. And as the sixties make a come back I have gathered all my favourites so you know which product is the best to get that iconic look. Have fun! The most important thing is to have fun with it, make mistakes and start over. Practice makes it perfect.
If there is one thing that is vital when wearing eyeliner is make up remover. For before, during and after creating the look, you need the best one. My favourite choice: “Take the day off ” Makeup remover for lids, lashes and lips – Clinique.
Black and Polished
If you are looking for a deep black line that is defined and dark yet polished, I’ve got the perfect product for you. This is my personal favourite and my everyday go-to. I found the Catrice waterproof liquid eyeliner not so long ago, but I can’t stop rambling about it. It is amazing, it is of course not that easy to use for beginners but once you practice with it, it is amazing. I wear the shade 01 “Don’t Leave me!” and trust me it never does. My cat eye flick stays on all day long, with tears, rain and snow. The best part it is found at an amazing price in the drugstores. My tip on achieving the best flick is to draw the line towards the end of your brow and then unite it in the lash line.
No look is complete without mascara: Hypnôse Precious Cells – Lancôme
If you are looking for a less polished, more sexy look then smudge it out. It doesn’t take any expert to this and the messier the better. My favorite is the Benefit “They’re real! push-up liner”, great formula for a smudged look and completely foolproof. Catrice gel eyeliner is perfectly water proof, this eye liner will stay on for as long as you want it to be, even the smudge will stay perfectly smudged. This product is a bit more difficult to apply since it needs to be applied with a brush, but it is totally worth the try. My tip, draw the perfect cat eye line and then smudge it with a blending brush.
No look is complete without mascara: Rock ‘n’ Dot – Essence
Perfect and thin
If you are more for a romantic, french girl look then you have to be more careful with your choices. You need a felt tip liner that is thin with a great staying power formula. The thing about felt tips is how fast the dry out. The best ones who have always worked and lasted the longer are actually drugstore products. L’oreal’s “Super liner” Black liquid was by far a favourite of mine. I used it everyday or about 4 years non stop. First of all it’s very easy to use, very versatile as well, you can create really small cute details but full one wings as well. My other safe choice was as well “Scandal Eyes” thick and thin eyeliner by Rimmel London. Amazing product again very useful for different products specially for bold looks. My tip is to start with gentle strokes as close to the lash line as possible and the start to build it up.
No look is complete without mascara: Chanel Imitable Black Mascara
Go ahead and try all of them. From one thing I’m sure, you can never go wrong with a winged eyeliner.
